Sustainable Development Transition Forum (SDTF) organized by DSDG/UNOSD
UNPOG attended the SDTF organized by United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) on October 29 to 31 in Incheon, Republic of Korea. This SDTF focused on the experiences of reviewing the HLPF in its first four years and the lessons learned at the national and global levels from the first cycle of SDG implementation. The forum further discussed how to enhance the effectiveness of the HLPF and accelerate the progress of implementing the 2030 Agenda.
On the second day, Mr. Keping Yao, Governance and Public Administration Expert, participated in the roundtable discussion on means of implementation and partnerships for SDG achievement. Mr. Yao shared some key messages from UNPOG’s 2018 Regional Symposium which took place prior to SDTF. He discussed the potential opportunities of frontier technologies to support implementing the SDGs and address some possible negative impacts such as further left behind of vulnerable groups. Mr. Yao also added that stronger partnerships are required to accelerate SDG implementation. On the last day, a concluding summary of the key insights gained through the forum was presented in the form of the 2018 Incheon Communiqué, which also reflects the contributions by UNPOG
