Nov 5-6, 2018 / Seoul, Republic of Korea:
The 2018 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting
Mr. Chung Chae Gun and other UNPOG staff members participated in the 2018 OGP Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting, which was hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea from November 5 to 6 in Seoul. The event drew about 200 policymakers and civil society representatives from the OGP member states in the Asia-Pacific region. The OGP Asia-Pacific Regional meeting was a great opportunity for OGP members and non-members to share experiences and explore a path towards open government under the themes of promoting participatory democracy, improving governance for a better life for all, and renewing public trust through government innovation. The event brings together government reformers and civil society leaders to create action plans that make government inclusive, responsive, and accountable.
On 6 November 2018, Mr. Chung delivered a presentation during the breakout session on "Strengthening Governance through Inclusivity: Integration of Leaving No One Behind in the Sustainable Development Agenda". He shared the concepts and tools for inclusive sustainable development planning, opportunities, and challenges in implementing and monitoring the SDGs, and best practices on policy designing and coordination, mobilizing resources, building strong institutions, and instituting legislative framework in support of inclusivity when implementing the SDGs.
