I. Capacity Development Webinar to launch the Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific region (25 January 2022)

The Capacity Development Webinar to launch the Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific region was held on 25 January via Zoom. Organized by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) with the support from its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), and in collaboration with UN ESCAP, the Webinar was attended by over 500 participants via Zoom and 1,000 viewers via DESA Facebook live stream. The Webinar was well received with active interaction by participants from national and local governments, schools of public administration, civil society organizations, academia, the private sector, and several UN entities, including RCOs, UNDP, UN-Habitat, UNESCO, UN WOMEN, WHO, FAO.

II. Peer-to-Peer Learning International Workshop on Public Service Training Assessment Framework for Strengthening Capacities of Public Servants to Support SDG Implementation (16 - 17 March 2022)

The Peer-to-Peer Learning International Workshop on Public Service Training Assessment Framework for Strengthening Capacities of Public Servants to Support SDG Implementation was held via Zoom from 16 to 17 March 2022. The Workshop was organized by the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) of the Government of Bhutan, in collaboration with UN DESA, through DPIDG and with the support of its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), and with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Bhutan. The Workshop aimed to promote a learning journey of peers that would help strengthen civil service capacity building in Bhutan and develop a partnership among the Workshop participating countries, leading to the development of a framework for learning outcome assessment for the public service of the Royal Government of Bhutan.

III. Training Workshop on the Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in collaboration with the National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI) of the Republic of Korea (27 January 2022)

At the request of the National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI) of the Republic of Korea, DPIDG/UNPOG conducted a Training Workshop on the Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 27 January 2022. The Workshop consisted of 2 sessions with an open discussion. The training introduced two Toolkits of the Curriculum, i.e. Changing Mindsets in Public Institutions to Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Government Innovation for Social Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups. A total of 20 programme officers from Korean government agencies in charge of global education and cooperation attended the Workshop.

IV. Training Session on the Need for New Mindset & Capacity Development for Public Officials to Realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC) for Senior Government Officials of Bangladesh (30 January 2022)

At the request of BPATC, DPIDG/UNPOG delivered one training session on “The Need for New Mindset & Capacity Development for Public Officials to Realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” on 30 January 2022. This training session, which is part of BPATC’s Advanced Course on Administration and Development was attended by more than 30 senior government officials from various government departments. This training session provided much needed knowledge on the new mindsets and the strategies for promoting changing mindsets at the individual, organizational and institutional levels for Bangladesh government officials.

- At the invitation of APEC’s Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG), DPIDG/UNPOG participated in the First Advisory Expert Group discussion on developing the Risk-informed Decision-Making Framework for Resilience on 29 March 2022.

XI. Visit by 14 Government Officials from the ASEAN Countries (11 February 2022, Incheon, Republic of Korea)

On 11 February 2022, DPIDG/UNPOG received a delegation of 14 government officials from the ASEAN countries, who are currently enrolled in the KOICA- Yonsei Master’s Program in E-Government and Public Administration.
