Side Event on "Innovating Public Gover-nance and Leveraging Digital Technologies for Social Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups" during the 59th Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD59) (16 February 2021)
On 16 February 2021, DPIDG/UNPOG and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN, in collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), co-organized a virtual Side Event on "Innovating Public Governance and Leveraging Digital Technologies for Social Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups" during the 59th Session of the Commission for Social Development. The Side Event was convened mainly for introducing an online Training Toolkit on "Government Innovation for Social Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups", which is part of UN DESA/DPIDG's Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs.

On 15 March 2021, the Head of UNPOG had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Rodolfo Solano Quiros, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica at the UNPOG premises. The Head of UNPOG presented DPIDG/UNPOG's research and capacity development activities. DPIDG/UNPOG was invited to visit GRC of SNU Siheung Campus on 2 March to further discuss the preparation for the Governance Capacity Development Session on "Strengthening Public Governance and Accelerating Innovation to Achieve Agenda 2030". During the visit, GRC kindly offered to support and host UNPOG activities on the SNU Siheung Campus, especially the Regional Symposium. Online Capacity Development Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies and Digital Governance for Local Resilience
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) through its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) in collaboration with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Office for Northeast Asia & Global Education and Training Institute (UNDRR ONEA & GETI) and UNITAR CIFAL Jeju is co-organizing a 3-day Online Capacity Development Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies and Leveraging Digital Government for Local Resilience.
This training will provide concepts, tools and approaches for implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 at the local level. It will also introduce the Toolkit on Risk- informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience, which is part of UN DESA's Curriculum on Governance for SDGs, and provide specific guidance on leveraing data and digital government for disaster risk reduction and resilience. The training structure includes lecture sessions with expert inputs. Session-based group work will enable participants to transform in-depth learning into practice and familiarize with coordinated action for decision making.
