
March 13, 2025 – The United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) of the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), has successfully launched the first live sessions of the two (2) Blended eLearning Courses on Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation and Government Innovation for Social Inclusion of People in Vulnerable Situations.
The first webinar of the Blended eLearning Courses on Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation was held on 7 March 2025 and gathered 119 participants from the national government, private sector, civil society organisations and the academia. The first session laid the foundation for understanding the critical role of public governance in driving the Sustainable Development Goals and emphasised the importance of seamless collaboration among national and local governments, as well as the private and non-profit sectors. A Governance Self-Assessment Exercise was also facilitated by a staff to systematically evaluate the status of governance in their respective countries and identify opportunities for improvement in policy design, implementation, and monitoring. The live session on Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation highlighted the significance of strengthening public institutions and fostering organic cooperation among state, local, private, and non-profit sectors to bridge the gap between national aspirations and local realities.
On 11 March 2025, UNPOG/DPDIG also hosted another insightful webinar for the Blended eLearning Courses on Government Innovation for Social Inclusion of People in Vulnerable Situations. The webinar marked the launch of the Blended eLearning Course on the same topic, and was 102 attended participants from national governments, civil society organizations, and academia, the webinar explored how government innovation can enhance public services for people in vulnerable situations. It also showcased successful initiatives from Uganda, Egypt, and Australia, offering valuable insights into innovative government practices.
The next session for the Blended eLearning Courses on Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation is scheduled to take place on 20 March 2025 and will address institutional frameworks and arrangements that facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement. The next live session for the Blended eLearning Courses on Government Innovation for Social Inclusion of People in Vulnerable Situations will be held on 1 April 2025 and will focus on innovating public services and enabling ecosystems for social inclusion.
