The Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) organised an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) entitled "United Nations E-Government Survey 2016: E-Government for Sustainable Development”, which was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 16 to 17 March 2015.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide a platform for experts to (a) exchange views on challenges emerging issues and trends related to e-government for sustainable development, (b) identify possible thematic areas, emerging issues and e- services relevant to the United Nations E-Government Survey 2016 from a sustainable development perspective, (c) review the Survey’s methodology and discuss possible assessment measures for the identified issues and e-services.

A total of 17 participants from 16 countries participated and from UN, total of 9 staff including 6 from eGB/DPADM and 3 from UNPOG/DPADM participated. A total of five sessions were carried out during the two-day EGM, including two plenary sessions and three sessions with parallel working groups. The format of the Plenary Session 1 consisted of three introductory presentations, while the Plenary Session 2 consisted of plenary discussion of the focus questions. The following sessions included parallel working group discussion and plenary wrap-up.

Among the participants from UNPOG, Mr. Yao presented the key highlights from the consultations on advancing the Survey’s conceptual framework during Session 5.
