DPIDG/UNPOG participated as a resource person in the 2024 Executive Training Course for Policymakers on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, organized by UNOSD/DSDG. Held annually in Korea, the course brings together around 70 participants. The main objective is to enhance the knowledge, skills, mindsets, and overall capacities of Member States in sustainable development planning and policymaking through an integrated approach. During the DPIDG/UNPOG session on Stakeholder Engagement for aligning VNR and NDC, participants discussed strategies and good practices on how stakeholder engagement can be aligned for both the SDGs and climate action, with a focus on gender equality, social inclusion, and leaving no one behind. There is growing recognition of the importance of stakeholder engagement in NDC, as reflected in the NDC Synthesis Report, which indicates that 79% of Parties have formal arrangements for domestic stakeholder consultation, with 93% conducting consultations in an inclusive and participatory manner, including 81% that specifically reference gender-sensitive consultations. The Global Stakestock reaffirms that sustainable and just solutions to the climate crisis must be founded on meaningful and effective social dialogue and the participation of all stakeholders.
