DPIDG/UNPOG participated in the 6th edition of the African Forum of Territorial Managers and Training Institutes targeting Local Governments (FMAI 6_2022), which was held from 28 November to 3 December 2022 in Agadir, Morocco. This Forum was organized by United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), through its African Local Government Academy (ALGA), and in partnership with the General Directorate of Territorial Collectivities (DGCT) of the Ministry of Interior of Morocco and other partners. The overarching theme of the FMAI 6_2002 is “The challenge of Training and Building Capacities of Local Elected Officials and Employees of Local and Regional Government in Africa in Climate Action”. This FAMI 6_2022 provided a good platform to present, discuss and explore answers to various issues related to the challenges of training and capacity building of local elected officials and staff of local and regional governments in Africa.

 

During the Forum, two UNPOG staff delivered three presentations on Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs, Multi-stakeholder Partnerships for Implementing and Localizing the SDGs and Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation respectively. The Forum presented a good opportunity to promote the UN DESA Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals.
