On 31 March 2023, two UNPOG/DPIDG staff was requested by the United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) to virtually attend the City Enabling Environment (CEE) Rating in the Asia-Pacific: Indicator 11 (Environmental and Climate Change Governance) Expert Group Discussion. The event was held in Bangkok, Thailand and was co-organised by UCLG ASPAC, UN ESCAP and GIZ Bangkok.
The UNPOG/DPIDG staff presented on the “Multi-level Governance for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation” during the 2nd Expert Sessions City Enabling Environment on Urban Climate Resilient Overview (Criteria 11) and promoted the Handbook on Effective National to Local Governance for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.
The EGM’s objective was to discuss the revision of indicators, especially criteria number 11 on the environment and climate change. Representatives from national governments (Planning Ministries), local government associations (UCLG ASPAC members), UN agencies and partners (university, INGO) were also present during the meeting.
