As a long-standing member of AP-IS since 2016, DPIDG/UNPOG virtually participated in the monthly open session of the Working Group 3 on Digital Data, which was convened by UN ESCAP on 12 July 2023. During the meeting, some country updates on digital data were introduced by members from Armenia, Republic of Korea, and Sri Lanka with policy focus on digital inclusion, building an open and resilient digital ecosystem, meaningful connectivity for all, instituting digital data governance, enhancing digital capacities of public sector, and digital cooperation. UN ESCAP as the Secretariat of AP-IS also introduced the results of the pilot survey on Member States’ policy interests and priorities on three pillars of the AP-IS Action Plan 2022-2026, i.e., i) Connectivity for all, ii) Digital technologies and applications, and iii) Digital data. This AP-IS Action Plan 2022-2026 serves as a blueprint for regional cooperative actions for universal digital connectivity and digital transformation towards an inclusive digital society while also supports the UN Secretary-General’s Common Agenda on Improving Digital Global Cooperation and the Action Lines of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
