On 19 June 2019, the Head of UNPOG was invited to deliver a special lecture to 150 government officials in Military Manpower Administration, Republic of Korea. The special lecture covered the mandate of UN DESA/UNPOG and the role of government officials in implementing the SDGs at the local level. The implementation of the 2030 Agenda will strongly depend on how the SDGs are localized at the sub-national levels. The special lecture provided a valuable opportunity for UN DESA/UNPOG to raise awareness to Yanggu local government officials on their unique position to make local communities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
