The Head of UNPOG participated in the LOGODI Global Forum 2019 on “Tasks and Ways for Developing Capacity of Local Government Officials to Implement the Sustainable Development Goals”, organized by the Local Government Officials Development Institute (LOGODI) from 17-18 June 2019 in Sejong City, Republic of Korea.
LOGODI is a training institute under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea and has been offering capacity building programmes to government officials from developing countries since 2000. This year’s Forum brought together heads of public administration schools from 12 countries and discussed how to implement the SDGs during the era of 4th Industrial Revolution.
On Day 2 of the Forum, Mr. Chung delivered a special presentation titled “A Way Forward—Building Capacity for Effective, Inclusive and Accountable Public Administration System for SDG Implementation”. In his presentation, Mr. Chung i) explained the importance of capacity building and transforming mindsets of government officials for achieving the SDGs and ii) introduced the Global Initiative for Schools of Public Administration of DPIDG as well as other capacity development support provided by DPIDG/UNPOG to developing Member States to assist promoting effective, inclusive and accountable public administration for SDG implementation.
