Background
Digital government transformation is not just about technologies and is crucial for governments worldwide. It offers new ways to improve efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness in the public sector, and above all revolutionises how businesses, governments, and societies operate globally.
Like the rest of the world, Africa is also undergoing rapid digital transformation, fuelled by growing internet access, widespread mobile technology use, and tech-savvy young population. It offers African greater interconnection for African markets with another and the rest of the world as it presents an opportunity for innovation, economic growth, and job creation.
In recognising the significance of digital government transformation, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), through the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), and the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM), is co-organising a webinar on “Digital Government Transformation Webinar: Driving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union Agenda 2063” on 30 April 2024.
