UNPOG/UN DESA staff members participated in the Expert Group Meeting on the “Role of Public Institutions in the Transformative Impact of New Technologies” from 6 to 7 December 2018 in UN Headquarters, New York. The EGM was organized by DPIDG/DESA and discussed the role of government in taking advantage of the new technologies for the advancement of human welfare and focused on the benefits and risks of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, the blockchain, robotics and big data when adapting those for public services delivery.

This EGM provided a valuable opportunity for UNPOG in building synergies since one of the priority areas of the Office is innovative approaches to delivering inclusive public services leveraging frontier technologies for advancing the 2030 Agenda.
