Launch of the eLearning Course on Risk-informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience

Background
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA, through the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG), and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) for Northeast Asia (ONEA) and Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) will organise a webinar to introduce the newly launched eLearning Course on “Risk-informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience” (Toolkit).
Based on the UN DESA Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs, the Toolkit was developed in 2021 for national capacities to spearhead innovations and utilise Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) and key frontier technologies in government in order to drive DRR and resilience.
In 2023, the Toolkit was converted into a self-paced eLearning course available to all interested policymakers, practitioners, and interested stakeholders for free on the UN DESA Digital Learning Centre.
Objective(s)
The webinar aims to introduce the content, purpose, and accessibility features of the eLearning course on “Risk-informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience” and is designed to enhance public sector capacities for risk-informed policymaking and resilience through the exploration of mechanisms related to emerging technology adoption and utilisation.
