The Workshop on “Building Capacities of Training Schools and Institutes of Public Administration to Implement the 2030 Agenda and Attain the SDGs” was successfully convened from 27 to 29 November 2019 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Workshop was organized as a joint capacity development initiative of UN DESA, UNDP, Astana Civil Service Hub (ACSH) with the support of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the “Government for Citizens” Public Corporation NJSC. The Workshop was attended by over 100 participants from 6 target countries namely Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and other representatives from think tanks, academia, NGOs and international organizations.
The Workshop aimed to build the capacities of training schools and institutes of public administration to include in their training both the principles and the objectives of the sustainable development agenda. It included efforts to equip public servants with transformational leadership capacities needed to implement the SDGs. The Workshop strengthened the regional network on schools of public administration and provided a good platform for North-South and South-South cooperation.
