Background
The United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) was established in June 2006 as an outcome of the 6th Global Forum on Reinventing Government to promote efficient, participatory, and transparent governance. The Project is based on an Agreement between the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Government of the Republic of Korea, through its Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS). UNPOG functions under the general supervision of the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM), United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).
In 2016, the project was renewed for 15 years (until 2030) and its work was re-aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In line with its new mandate, UNPOG’s website will need to be revamped to more effectively implement its capacity development activities.
Objectives
The website will be revamped:
- To share information about the activities of UNDESA/DPADM/UNPOG
- To build networking tools to foster collaboration among Member States, academia, policy makers and the other international organizations in the area of public administration and the SDGs.
- To support knowledge transfer, exchange of good practices and lessons learned among countries in the Asia-Pacific and Eastern Africa.
Work assignment
The consultant will revamp the structure and design of the current website, reflect the changes in written contents and images and align the overall design of the website to be coherent with the DPADM’s and the UNDESA websites. The consultant will review the www.unosd.org website as a reference and equip the UNPOG website with the function of a platform for interactive discussions among the Member States as well as UNPOG and the Member States.
Duration of contract
The duration of the contract will be for 45 working days within a 3-month period.
Duty Station
The consultant will complete the assignment at his/her own location, working remotely in close collaboration with UNPOG/DPADM staff.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of web development (PHP, .NET, SQL, HTM, CSS, Javascript) and experience in implementing content managed and responsive websites;
- Good communication skills;
- Strong work ethic, ability to be self-directed and self-motivated;
- Strong layout and design skills using Photoshop or other tools;
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with cross browser web development for IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome.
- At least 5-6 years of experience in designing visions and layout for web portals, as well as communication platforms for knowledge exchange
Remuneration for this consultancy is contingent on applicant’s experience.
